The question reads: "Without looking her up, from your own head and memory, who is Vanessa Mae and do you like her music?"
Here is my answer:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanessa-Mae
Vanessa-Mae Vanakorn Nicholson (born October 27, 1978 in Singapore), known onstage as Vanessa-Mae (in Chinese: 闄崇編, Ch茅n M臎i) is an internationally known British classical and pop musician, especially noted for her violin skills. Her music style is self-described as "violin techno-acoustic fusion," as several of her albums prominently feature the techno style.
Vanessa-Mae was born in Singapore. Her father and mother both are Chinese.
Vanessa-Mae began playing piano at the age of three and violin at five.
She was relatively famous in the United Kingdom throughout her childhood making regular appearances on television mostly involving classical music and conservative style. According to Guinness World Records, she is the youngest soloist to record both the Beethoven and Tchaikovsky violin
(contd) concertos, a feat she accomplished at the age of thirteen. During this time she attended the Francis Holland School in central London.
Vanessa-Mae made her international professional debut at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany in 1988, and also during 1988 made her concerto debut on stage with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London.
On entering adolescence Vanessa-Mae broke away from her traditional classical influences and became known for her flashy, sexy style appearing in music videos in stylish outfits. She appeared on the Janet Jackson album The Velvet Rope playing a violin solo on the song "Velvet Rope." Her first pop styled album, The Violin Player, was released in 1995, and is still regarded as one of the best works of her career.
In April 2006, Vanessa-Mae was ranked as the wealthiest young entertainer under 30 in the UK in the Sunday Times Rich List 2006 having an estimated fortune of about 拢32 million ($64 million) stemming from concerts and record
(contd) ummmm. ok. vanessa mae is this chinese violinist who plays the violin as well as the e-violin. since, 2 me, all violin play sounds the same i cant say shes good or bad, i just dont like it she plays the e-violin cos the violin is a classical instrument unlike the guitar, so you can play an e-guitar but please not a violin.
further is your question incorrect since its not HER music she is playing. you should therefore ask: "do you like her interpretation of the music she is playing?" or "do you like how she plays the violin?" shes not a composer so theres no thing such as "her music"
in any case: i dont. sorry. she seriously thinks shes better or sth only cos shes from china and im not even being racist here. some asian violinist i have a few songs of hers on my ipod She is a musician who shares the same date and year of birth with me!!! No wonder I like music so much, though not the music that Vanessa-Mae does... She is a good violin player but I do not like the "techno" aspect ; drums and bass.
I like my classical music "straight".
Still, she gets people listening to the violin that otherwise would not. That is good. Isn't she a chinese lady who plays violin? cheers. You got me. But thanks for the information.
