Oboe Reeds?

Oboe reeds... *sigh*
I had a perfect one, but I think it's "dead" now. I'm a beginner on oboe and I have my first concert on Dec. 6. I have one reed which is brand new--and I think it still needs breaking in. I KNOW how to break in a reed, except this one seems waaaayy too open. My last one was always a little bit too closed. I don't know how to solve this, but I'd like a nice-sounding playable reed by the concert date. Please help... will breaking-in also solve the wide open problem? Or what would I need to do?

By the way, I've already tried "opening" my closed reed by wetting it and pushing it open. I didn't know that would work for closed up reeds, but doing the opposite. Thanks so much! =)
Might as well try that suggestion. But I'll leave this question open for further answers! *huggles* Thanks again!

Get the reed good and wet and then squeeze the tip to close it ... just a little bit. Don't go overboard or you'll ruin the reed.

Is it the same brand of reed? Do you have a local music shop where you could try to find the same type of read as the perfect read?

Why haven't you just asked the teacher?

really i would advise you to get a new reed especially if it on thursday get one and use it really often thats what i would of done i would also advise a lesher brand reed if you are a beginer i would advise med-soft
