I'm playing this technical Chopin Nocturne, and I need to get the L.H. a lot softer so I can bring out the melody. How do I do it? This is a challenging thing to do, but it's possible!! You might try practicing each hand separately exaggerating the dynamics, then put them together and see what happens. Beyond that, just practice, really focusing on the dynamics. I agree that is very hard to do but it can be done. First of all you need to practice hands seperately if you aren't already. Work on just the dyanamic of the song. You need to be real subconcious about it because it is very easy to forget that you were sopoused to bring out the melody on certian parts. Chopin't Prelude in Db is like that; where you have to bring the melody out in the right hand and toward the end it switches to the left hand. I hope this helps If LH sounds too loud...
- maybe you aren't playing relaxed enough. Learn it well enough that you definitely aren't struggling
- maybe try making it flow more, so you don't hear individual notes so much
- maybe bring out only the most important notes (bass...) and let the rest go all the way into the background
If you said what piece you were doing, it would help so we could help you with specific technical problems. |
