they are amazing for cheap strings

Try and get a set of Dominants. They are not too expensive in the US. Anything cheaper sounds awful.
I have not tried Red Label myself because we do not get then here in Australia but I have heard others in the US say they sound awful.
I would just stick with the Dominants ; they are only $35 per set in the US whereas we pay $75 for them in Australia. They are a great string and even professionals use them.

Go to the online Shar Music catalog. Dominant strings are okay.

Red Label and Prelude are pretty closest to cheap and good quality strings .... another violin teacher recommended Corelli as good alternative in the cheap string arena
