Bach was indeed a genius and he most definitely has had a huge impact on music and the arts. I can even see how one could argue that he has had a social impact on our society. Now maybe I'm totally wrong on this...but I really don't see how Bach had a tremendous impact on religion, politics, science, or the economy. If anything...these elements (esp religion) had an impact ON HIM....they played a large role in how and why he wrote music the way he did.
