at the Cenataph on Remembrance Sunday ? It contained a boogle playing but it wasn't the Last Post. I think it was featured in the film Saving Private Ryan! Any ideas anyone ? Thanks. Each year, the program of music at the National Remembrance Ceremony remains the same, as follows:
Rule, Britannia! by James Thomson
Heart of Oak by William Boyce
The Minstrel Boy
Men of Harlech
The Skye Boat Song
Isle of Beauty
David of the White Rock
Oft in the Stilly Night by John Stevenson
Flowers of the Forest
Enigma Variations: Nimrod by Edward Elgar
Dido's lament by Henry Purcell
Last Post
Funeral March No. 1 by Ludwig van Beethoven
O God, Our Help in Ages Past by Isaac Watts
Reveille
God Save The Queen
Other pieces of music are then played during the unofficial wreath laying and the march past of the veterans, starting with Trumpet Voluntary
Trumpet Voluntary or, to a lesser extant, reveille might fit your description. Trumpet Voluntary, however, cannot be played correctly on a bugle which has limitations due to the lack of valves. "bugle".....if it was not the Last Post then it was probably Taps.
The melodies are similar because they are played on the bugle which can only play certain notes. This is why many people get them confused. |
