I want to learn a fugue that everyone will enjoy and memorize it. Little Fugue in G Minor - awesome work.
The fugue in G Major ("Great") is also very nice. toccata and fugue in d minor tocatta & fugue in D minor I dig the little fugue in Gm as well ...
But I also really like the opening motif for the fugue in Cm. Little Fugue in G Minor. My favorite is the one that starts out like dididum dididum dididumdumdum ..... real cool
Oh wait ... that's the Lone Ranger ..... oh darn! C minor! It's not too complicated, and the prelude is pretty as well. It's also quite recognizable. I'm not sure what level you are at but here are some of my favorites:
The fugue from the Toccata in C minor. (rather long & difficult, but awesome.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqp2_LaYo... (part 2 - when the fugue starts)
Prelude & Fugue No. 21 in Bb Major, WTC bk 1 (much easier)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hm6AsvOWw... (not the best recording, i know)
You could learn a contrpunctus from The Art of Fugue (also not easy):

Prelude and Fugue no. 2 in C minor, WTC bk. 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4839JlZ2... (this recording is NOT the standard but it is by far a better recording than most else that I could find on youtube...some of the student versions of this were hideous. And plus love him or hate him...he's Gould and he's a genius) The imposing Great and the innocent Little Fugue
Oh yes, and Toccata and Fugue in D minor. |
