If I love the prelude from Bach麓s Cello Suite No. 1, what are some other pieces I would like?

Mostly for the cello, but all reccomendations are welcome

Cello Solos....my specialty

Boccherini Cello Concertos
Lalo Cello Concerto
Haydn Cello Concertos
Elgar Cello Concerto
Popper-Hungarian Dance and Dance of the Elves
Bruch-Kol Nidre
Bach other 5 Cello Suites
Britten Cello Suites
Vivaldi Cello Sonatas (6)
Saint-Saens-The Swan and Cello Concerto
Prokofiev-Cello Sonata
Shostakovich-Concertos 1&2, Sonata Op.40
Boccherini Sonatas (i think there's 19)
Beethoven Sonatas
Vivaldi Concerto for 2 Cellos and Orchestra
Squire Tarantella
Popper-Tarantella

there is much more written for cello and I hope you listen to some of these and enjoy them. Also, if you play cello buy the sheet music and try to play some of them.

Toccata and Fugue in D Major.

Yo-Yo Ma plays great cello in the soundtracks for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and also Memoirs of a Geisha.

Bach's Air in D from the 3rd orch suite, BWV 1068 is also good (for all strings though)

Bach wrote six suites for solo cello so you will probably love them all. He also wrote similar solo works for the violin so you should give them a try too.

i have played the cello for almost half of my life and im in love with the bach suites. if u like the prelude, then i suggest looking at the rest of suite one because it has a similar simple style. the second and third suites are like this two and the 5th and 6th are more complicated but are fantastic. and there are also many different interpretations of the bach suites, i personally prefer yo-yo ma's cd, because he plays them almost exactly as they were written by bach. then i would say casals and rostropovich because they add some embellishments that bach didnt want, but are still great (of course). anyway, its great that u enjoy the bach suites and have fun exploring music!!
