Can you recommend some good menacing New Age music? |
By "menacing", I mean not those cutsey piano pieces or Kenny G, but rather something like a meditative drone or a strange sounds, usually without any melody. Something similar to Jean Michel Jarre's "Ethnicolor": I just answered someone else who had a similar question....for dark ambient, I listen to 70's Tangerine Dream releases or just about any of Steve Roach's releases from the early 90s onward. I particularly like and use Roach's "The Magnificent Void" 1996 (really really dark and brooding), and "Light Fantastic" (1999 or 2000) disks. The Tangerine Dream disks I'd recommend for darker ambient would be "Phaedra" (1974) and "Rubycon" (1975). All are just incredible ambient music! nickleback is badass Try "My life in the bush of ghosts" 1981 Brian Eno and David Byrne particularly tracks Jezebel Spirit, Mea Culpa , Help me sombody, and Regiment Try Enigma or a group called eRa, or, if you like Asian flavours, Kitaro. This is classical music but anyway, try Bach's solo works for violin Isn't menacing and "new age" kind of a contradiction? In any event new age is not classical music - try the "pop" or "other" forum. Try Clannad Try Messiaen's "Regard de la croix" from "Vingt Regards sur l'enfant Jesus". |
