What's your favourite piano piece to listen to?

To: Efes Haze - how about play it?!

The Etudes of Chopin Opus 10 and 25. The waltzes of Chopin. The Preludes of Rachmaninoff, the second and third concerto of Rachmaninoff, the Preludes of Chopin, the 6 Partitas (Partite in Italian plural) of J.S. Bach. The Piano sonatas of beethoven as well as the violin and piano duo by the same composer. I love to listen to Franz Liszt. I usually play Mozart piano sonatas when young children are present. I'm not very fond of French Impressionist works, however I really like Gaspar de la nuit by Maurice Ravel.

I'm a Music Graduate and a major in Piano. Listening is one thing, playing is another. I normally don't like listening to pieces that I play over and over again for a thousand times or more. But if there is a "good interpretation " I am open to listening to it in a concert or on a recording. In this case it's more like analytical listening and not for pleasure.

Piano Sonata No. 8 (Pathetique) by Beethoven.

The Blue Danube

I don't know the name of it, but it's Chopin

Beethoven....

One of my favourite pieces is Laura Dune,a simple beginners piece, but if played well sounds good.

Alla Turca

Beethoven- Piano Sonata No14 (moonlight sonata)

Chopin : nocturne number 20 in C# minor (opus posthumous) I love the violin transcription of this too.

or Chopin : fantasie impromptu in C# minor (opus 66)

Rach 2

I like Gavotte, Small Fry, and Sonatina in C Major.

Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu Opus 66

Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata

Jay Chou's version of Secret (played by Rain)

the piano in cosmic baby, loops of infinity is way cool its not a classical song itd dance but great piano

Rachmaninov n0. 1

Fur Alise by Beethoven

Anything by Chopin
Moonlight Sonata -Beethoven
Clair De Lune -Debussy

clair de lune, Debussy.
Beautiful.

I like a lot of Debussy stuff... Claire De Lune, La Fille Aux Cheveux de Lin, etc

What else would you do with it, apart from listen?

Shostakovitch Piano Concerto No2.
Slow movement is wonderful.

(OK, I admit, you could play it too....apologies)

Debussy's Prelude no. 8 or Dvorak's prelude no. 7.

When it comes to me playing the piano, I prefer:

John Cage's 4'33"

When it comes to me playing the piano, I'm certain you'd prefer this piece as well.

Clair de Lune- Debussy

Appassionata - Beethoven

Le Tombeau de Couperin - Ravel

Piano Concerto No. 2 - Shostakovich

Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme of Pagnini (variation 18)
Beethoven's Pathetique sonata Adagio Cantabile movt

Gershwin's "Rhapsody In Blue" or Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag"
