I practice every day but have trouble expanding my range. I need to know what specifc exercises are especially helpful in doing that. Play long tones in your middle range, and never continue to play when your lips are tired. Challenge yourself occasionally with a note at the top of your range, but do not over-exert yourself. Your range will build up slowly. I would recommend doing lip-slurs. (in case you don't know what they are: go C up G up C down G down G. All are fingered open, and you slur them.) I'm not a trumpeter(sp-?), but I would imagine it's like all the brass instruments, in terms of developing ones skill of playing.
Choose a note - say, an octave below where you wan to reach to - fill your lungs to full capacity(naturally, using your diaphragm), and begin softly, building to forte, then back to very soft. Do this with one note at a time daily, gradually working to the upper register at its hightest reach.
