Classical music for kids (part II)? |
Hi. I recently asked a question about classical music for two children aged three and five (see my earlier post if you can be bothered). I got some interesting and helpful answers but I'm looking for a longer and more specific list of actual pieces, rather than entire operas/symphonies/concertos etc. Please bear in mind that I am not a newcomer to classical music/opera, and neither are the kids in question. Here is a small list of examples of what they already like: I should also point out that they are also familiar with many of the more famous bits and pieces (meditation from Thais, flight of valkyries, intro to Also sprach Zarathistra etc.). Please do not let this put you off suggesting famous pieces, as someone suggested Dukas' 'L'Apprenti Sorcier' a few days ago, and I must admit, I hadn't thought of that one in years! Both Haydn cello concertos are wild, interesting, and cute, and young kids would like listening to them. Beethoven's triple concerto, Bach's famous organ toccota and fugue. It's good that you have them listen to that music. My parents had me listen to classical and now I'm in love with it. Mendelssohn's Elijah, and oratorio, is my favorite music in the world, but it's not easy listening. When they get a little older I would definitely recommend that. im not sure if this is classical but i really like this song... i used to like some classical music when i was younger. not alot, but some. some of my favourites were: Im not that sure about as it might be modern as its a 2007 piano Grade 1 peice named Sarabande (I write without having seen your earlier question) I'm not quite sure what you're looking for, but perhaps the Children's chorus from "Carmen" might be it. |
