Sax notes.?

for the E flat alto saxophone how many keys is it higher then the piano so if on the piano you played a C what note would that be on the sax

Alto sax transposes up a major sixth from the piano note (or 9 half steps). So for the alto to play the same sound as "C" on piano it would play its written "A".

Musician, composer, clarinet/sax player, teacher.

haha. ok it's an E flat saxophone.... so if you played a C on the piano, that would be an E flat on the saxophone.

if you played a B flat on the piano it would be a G on the saxohpone.

E flat.. what ever the note of the instrument is the note that sounds when you play a C on that instrument. For example, a B flat clarinet sounds B flat (per the piano) when you play a C on the clarinet..

two and a half.

C, D, D#

D# = Eb

The simplest way to understand the pitch of a transposing instrument (one that is not pitched in C) is "sounds like". When you play a C on that instrument it "sounds like" whatever the name of the pitch is for that instrument..
So Eb alto = When a C is fingered/played on the horn it "sounds like" an Eb in concert (or piano) pitch.
So to "sound like" a C on the piano, the Eb Alto saxophone would finger/play an A
On a Bb Tenor Saxophone= When a C is fingered/played on the horn it "sounds like" a concert Bb
So to "sound like" a C on the piano, the Bb Tenor Saxophone would play D.
