This composition is played using all 5 black keys.Is there a secret to mastering this beautiful melody? You usually need to learn to play the piano. Then you should get the partiture. Perhaps learning to read them would preve useful. ( Try getting lessons) Let me help you on this, because I myself played that etude over 100 times already.
Actually, the melody in the R.H. is a melody you cannot sing, because it is played very, very fast. The only "melody" in this etude are continuous runs and cascades on the black keys.
The right hand plays black keys throughout almost all of the piece. The left hand does have more white key usage than the right hand.
The best bet to deal with this famous "Black Key Etude" is to start practicing the piece in very slow tempo (don't play it at the very fast tempo yet) with the right hand alone. I say do this around 60 bpm to the quarter note. Make sure that your fingering is the best in the leaps and the jumps in the black keys.
Do this slowly about 15 or 20 times with the right hand alone. After a while, you will know where the black keys are in the right hand in the skips, arpeggios, and jumps, and play it slowly 5 more times.
Then, play the left hand alone slowly 10 times.
Then after this is done, listen to a recording of this etude by any pianist so you will get an idea on how it sounds like.
Then, gradually work up to fast tempo with both hands. |
