Tuning Help Please!!!!!?

I have a cello, and when I twist the pegs, and let go, it always spins the other way! I am a begginner and don't know what to do! Please help me!!!

if the peggs won't stay, use the fine tuners below the bridge. If that won't work.... don't touch it. Wait till u can have it tuned by your teacher or someone who knows what they're doing.

You have to push the pegs in slightly so that they grip. They are not like tuning machines on a guitar. Do not push them in so tightly that they jam ; just enough so that the peg stays firm. You have to experiment a bit to find the right amount of pressure.
Once you have got the string closely in tune using the pegs then you can use the fine tuners to get it exactly in tune. I hope you have an electronic tuner to help with the tuning ?

Remember, push in as you turn. If the pegs are still slipping then you need a slight amount of chalk or rosin on the peg to stop it slipping but this should be done by your teacher.

as you are turning to tune, when the tuning is about right, start pushing in as you turn. It will lock in place.

go to a music shop and ask for their help... call your teacher and ask him or her to tune it for you
