What is a good classical chase scene song?

No rock, pop, hip hop, or anything. Orchestral is what I'm looking for. And not Flight of the Bumblebee.

My candidate is by a French composer, not real well known, but nevertheless, a great one.
Cesar Franck. The piece: "Le Chasseur Maudit": "The Accursed Huntsman".

Although on the face of it, you would think it is just a fantasy piece involving a very arrogant French nobleman, who breaks the laws of the Sabbath by going hunting.

In reality, it is a brilliant, hair-raising race for ones life; and in an ultimate analysis, a profound meta-physical statement about good and evil. And one of the most brilliant pieces in all of the orchestral literature. You'll love it.

And I must disagree with one of your above responders: "The Ride of the Valkyries".

Even though it's thunderously, magnificently scored - Wagner outdid himself in this one, nothing like it - it nevertheless is not a "chase song" as you put it; but rather, a "gathering" of the Valkyries at a "way station" if you will, on their way to Valhalla. The only chase that is occurring, is that of Wotan after his errant daughter, Brunnhilde; but the "Ride" depicts a gathering of the other Valkyries: not that of a chase by Wotan after Brunhilde.

Anyway, enjoy.

Wotan

Ride of the Valkyries... Classic in every sense of the word...

Requiem for a Dream.
or
Clubbed to Death.

Beethoven's 5th comes to mind - good staccato movements for in city chase scenes where there's a lot of accelerating and breaking.

Macbeth Do Int i promise standing ovations ivvatuion

Sabre Dance (from the ballet Gayaneh) by Aram Hachaturjan is what I recommend!

Carl Maria von Weber's "Freischutz" it's about chase. And the final scene of the first act it's marvelous (the haunting of the soul, terrifying landscapes).
Another scene would be the final movement of the Berlioz's "Symphonie Fantastique". it is not a chase in the real sense of the word but a chase of spirit (the hero take part of his own burial, seeing the one he loves as the central figure in the witches Sabbath).

The William Tell Overture. I think it's Rossini.

If you just mean orchestral movie music is usally written for this kind of things, but quite a few pieces come to mind.
The Rite of Spring Dances of the Young Girls by Stravinsky comes to mind.
Beethoven's Egmont comes to mind, but you'd have to cut it because certain pars wouldn't fit.
If it's comic the first movement of Mozart's Sernade in G minor always does the work
Another choice is of course the Blue Danube by Johann Strauss for a comic car chase.
In Sergei Prokofiev's Ballet Romeo and Juliet there's a part called the fight the duke's command and that would fit the best I would say

I'm with "Likeit....." The William Tell Overture.

At least it worked for the Lone Ranger !!
