Change in Question -- What is your favorite Overture or Suite? |
hfrankmann brought-up an excellent point about rating a movement, separate from it's parent symphony. My favorite Overture is Wagner's Overture to "Tannhauser"; and my favorite suite(s) are the "Peer Gynt" by Edvard Greig. Is "Bolero" a suite? Thought it was one continuous piece. Seems like "Tannhauser" overture was chosen most. No surprise. To choose between it and "Meistersinger" was difficult for me. Report It william tell overture The entire "Bolero" by Ravel, my favorite piece of classical music whatsoever, in it's entirety.I just love the way it relentlessly builds and builds. I can already tell You are an appreciater of truly fine music...kudos The 1812-overture (Tchaikovski? Can't remember!) Wagner! Overture to Don Giovanni. Almost any of the Wagner overtures but especially the "Overture to Die Meistersinger". Favorite suite would probably be Holst's "Planets." Favorite Overture: Egmont by Beethoven is my favorite Overture Leonard Bernstein's overture to Candide. |
