If you could pick just ONE movement from a symphony - what would it be? |
i.e, Tchaikovsy's 3rd Movement; 6th Symphony --OR-- you may pick an Overture (i.e., Wagner's Oveture to Tannhauser)... Since you listed an Overture from an opera, how about ones final scene: "Brunnhilde's Immolation" from Wagner's "Die Gotterdammerung". Probably the greatest final scene in all opera. James Barnes - Third Symphony, first movement I'm going to have to deliberate on this one Fab, I'll get back to You ok. The whole point of a Symphony is the unity of the work as a whole. To cannibalize it for one movement is a seriously bad idea. Much as I enjoy Classical, my knowledge of it is still somewhat limited, so... can I choose a piece from a Suite instead? Can't pick one movement from a symphony... impossible - too many symphonies, too many movements. |
