Is the piano considered expensive?

okay. would you consider a second-hand 18 yr old piano, selling for $5800 to be expensive? its a limited edition kawai, with the strings totally NOT rusty at all. its in a very very good condition. you can bang on the bass without it sounding funny. especially exeperienced pianists, please help me here. thank you in advance!

If it were a Steinway, it would be a "steal" at $5800.00, of course.

Kawai is, however, is a quite respectable brand -but- unless there is something very special about this limited edition model, $5800 is over the top.

Based on my experience, assuming the internals are 100% functional, and it is near perfect cosmetically..........I'd say $5000 "all in" i.e. including sales tax, delivery, and a tuning.

Well... we bought our piano at a music store for about $10,000. Seeing as this piano is over 18 years old, I would say that $5,800 is a rather swell price. :-) If the string 'are' in good conditions and the bass sound good, I would say that that piano (escpecially if it is a special edition) is a good buy.

I agree with G.B. It seems over the top for what you would be getting. Another stated if it were a "Steinway", it would be a steal. I agree with them too.

My advice, look around some more. Once you purchase something like that, it could very well wind up being a terrible mistake. Take your time; I would check "estate sales": a lot of wealthy people will buy a piano, and no one ever uses them.

I would check pianos at a reputable store, look at new piano prices, ask them what they think. Only problem with that is if they don't sell that brand they may knock it. I think the one you are looking at is a bit too expensive.
