"Les Prelude" , "Mazeppa" , "Rakoczy March" and "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2."

Musician, composer, teacher.

I like Reminiscences of Don Juan, Au bord d'une source, Sonetto No.104 del Petrarca and the Sonata in B minor.

You didn't say piano, so my candidate is one of his orchestral "tone poem"s.

"Les Prelude": the best thing he ever wrote. A truly magnificent masterpiece.

Wotan

A Faust Symphony.
Liszt had been fascinated by the Faust legend ever since Berlioz introduced him to Goethe麓s version in 1830.
Dedicated to Berlioz, the work makes no attempt to follow the action of Goethe麓s text but is rather a series of symphonic character portraits: Faust, Gretchen and Mephistopheles.
And of course his piano music, specially both concertos and the Sonata in B minor.
