what are the parts of the sackbut Basically the same as the modern trombone. Check it out on wikipedia. I actually play the Sackbut, The main parts are the Slide and Bell. However there are a few things that make the sackbut unique from the trombone.
#1 - Flat mouthpiece - The mouthpiece is flat on the top with a sharp bite (edge of mouthpiece)... your chops go a lot quicker
#2 - Bell Shape and Size - The bells are much smaller and are more conical and less flared
#3 - Slide Wand. With the larger (bass) sackbut there is a wand to get the slide out to the 6th and 7th position. This differs from the modern bass trombone as the slide positions are almost identical to it's counter part in tenor (besides the trigger notes). |
