Between 1995-1997 I was listening to the radio and hear a track from the academy of ancient music. It had a heavy drum beat and made me feel like dancing. I have searched for the tune and have been unable to find it...there were no vocals, and I seem to remember it being middle ages/ court music but I'm sure it's not off the MUSIC FROM THE TIME OF QUEEN ELIZABETH I cd. I don't know of that's enough to go on, swinging beat, heavy drums, recorded prior to 1997. Thanks The AAM has made many CDs It is quite impossible to narrow down what you heard. For example, they did record all the Beethoven symphonies and, with their style of playing, certainly parts of the 7th could sound as you describe. They also recorded a disc of Praetorius' 'Dances from Terpschicore', many of which, again, sound as you describe. A search has shown 71 CDs currently available in the UK catalogue - see below. The Academy of Ancient Music is an orchestra and, therefore, doesn't perform 'songs'. A 'song' is a short piece with lyrics which are SUNG - by a singer! The clue is in the name! To me, that sounds a lot like a song I heard on the Norton Scores, called 'Salterello'. I'm not sure if the Academy ever performed it or a version of it though, I'll check around a see.
To the above poster:
Being nitpicky on terms when you know good and well what the poster is asking is not helpful to the person asking the question at all...especially since you obviously don't know the answer either. |
