Im a Tenor Saxophone player and I want switch to the Baritone Saxophone. How will the keys and the sound be different? The baritone saxophone will sound a fifth lower than the tenor sax playing the same note (the bari sax sounds an octave lower than the alto sax.)
The fingerings you are used to on the tenor will be almost identical to the fingerings on the bari; the keys will be a bit larger and further spaced apart but you should be able to adjust quickly to that.
The mouthpiece and reeds will be larger than the tenor ones you are used to, so the biggest change you'll have to make going from tenor to bari will be in embrochure.
Nonetheless, with a little practice, you should be able to make the switch pretty quickly and smoothly. well if u can get a good sound outa it, bari sax sounds so fat and amazing. I'm a tenor player myself. You'll find that the lower notes are easier to hit, dont ask me why. they keys are obviously spread out more, but the sound.
I love the sound of a bari sax being played, its so smoooth and deep. Its amazing. Switch to baritone. It's lower, smoother, sultry, and better sounding.
Dare to be different. Everyone else plays tenor.
