Can you be smarter if you listen to Mozart's music everyday?

I mean everyday, like every 2-3 hours.

I'm not sure I completely agree with what everyone else is saying.

If you truly listen, follow the flow of the music, try to understand how and why the music is speaking and appealing to you, and perhaps do some reading on the pieces that you like, you can't help but broaden your awareness and understanding. That's certainly gaining knowledge, isn't it?

And if it makes you exercise your brain, to reach for meaning, to allow you to immerse yourself in the music and let your mind take you where it may, you're benefiting from it.

Isn't there a school of thought that says that babies who are exposed to classical music develop at a faster age? I don't know whether that's proven or not but it wouldn't surprise me if it's true.

At any rate, any cerebral exercise you undertake, whether it be studying music or trying to understand any kind of complexity, is all to the good and you can't help to benefit from it.

I don't think Mozart will help you pass Algebra, but he will certainly tweak areas of your brain you've probably never used! Good luck, and keep listening!

P.S. Try some of the Chopin nocturnes.

no

no

this is a myth. Besides why should Mozart get all the credit! sure he was brillaint but there are plenty of other great composers, such as Beethovin, Bache, Tchakowsky, Vivaldi...listen to other music besides the ones done by mozart.

That's stupid, of course not.

I don't think it actually makes you smarter.

uhhhhhh lemme think a minute.....

NO.

No, but it will do your soul good to listen to something so beautiful.

Listening to any kind of music that much WILL change you somewhat. It won't make you smarter, but you will have an advanced ear for classical music and influence if you play an instrument yourself. I listened to Jimi Hendrix a lot, and suddenly I grew an afro and started playing guitar! Basically, music influences you, but might not make you smarter.

There's actually something known as the Mozart Effect, which you can learn about in the link I provided below. However, the whole music=smart study is a new one and findings really aren't conclusive at all.

No, while such a course of action is beneficial for other reasons, it will not make you smarter -otherwise we would force our politicians to listen to it (as I have said on several occasions before).
