Is the "Rover Hendrix" joke really one of The Simpson's worst?

This refers to a joke in the episode "Homerpalooza" when Homer asks the vet if he has any messages for Jimi Hendrix, to which he replies "Yes, pick up your puppy" and they show an old dog on a dog bed which says Rover Hendrix. Honestly, I laugh everytime I see it...and I think that one gag is funnier than the last 3 seasons of new simpsons episodes. Anyway...am I the only one who thinks this gag is funny? Some of the shows producers seem to feel this is one of their lowest points. Whats your opinion?

I know what episode your talking about, when homer is a freak in the freakshow lol. I thought Rover Hendrix was funny. He looks like a strung out stoner dog lol
