How come they never tell the state of Springfield in The Simpsons?

because they are not trying to make it a tourist state, also it is suppose to be fictional.if you really want to know then look up the other city that they have a rivalry with. what is it? shelby ville? then when you look on a map at the state where one of the sprinfileds are at then if you see shelby ville then that is the state that is from?

who knows, just assume that its in a state on the east or west coast.. or maybe towards the guly because in a few eps, they have them in the ocean.. so obviously its not springfield missouri or anything like that.

My guess is that there are so many Springfield's in the United States is could be any of them.

They want you to think it can be in any state, and so that they can border an ocean, have a mesa, an indian reservation, and a nuclear plant all in one town.

well because there are a lot of Springfield across U.S and as far as the writers are concerned there is Simpsons family like in every springfield and to make people think that Spingfield in simsons is their Springfield
they want everyone to think the that springfield is not any other but the one they live in

Because its just one of the show's running jokes...just like how they never showed Wilson's face in Home Improvement
