Who believes The Simpsons should have been canceled 7 years ago?

This is coming from a die hard fan who grew up on the show. It just seems to me that the episodes post 2000 lost their moral. Before then an episode contained a message and the comedy was written around that message but now a typical episode of The Simpsons is like watching a funniest home videos reel of people falling down. The first few are funny (sort of) but after that you know what to expect and the story (if there even is one) feels like an after thought.

I found the movie no better. Spiderpig? WTF? Give me a Squishy made of syrup anyday.

I have to agree... I love the OLD episodes of The Simpson's but now it's like it's trying to hard. I haven't even been keeping up with new episodes.

I loved looking for little references (one of my favorites was when Homer and Marge were reminiscing of their first kiss and Homer was going to go across a lake. There were rowboats and just big space and Homer says, "It's row versus wade and it's my right to choose!")

Now... it's like you said, it's only "funny" because Homer falls and that gets old... quick.

Your Nuts!!! Simpsons ROCK!!

I still like it and don't expect any message it's just a funny cartoon.

I see where you're coming from, but a lot of people, like me, find stupidity funny. So nah, I don't think it should've been.

I am a die hard fan too and i partly agree with you. I agree the older episodes are better than the new ones and I'm getting VERY sick of the new episodes that are only bible stories or some other sort of story. But I still love the simpsons! I'm starting to think their running out of fresh ideas with a good story line.

SIMPSONS ROCK!!!

WoW. Well I think the show is awesome, although the past few seasons have been a little on the weak side, but cancel the show? I agree that The Simpsons constantly made a point of substance in their episodes, but you also have to recognize that TV in general is evolving.

How could a PG show like The Simpsons possibly keep up with shows like Familiy Guy and South Park who constantly push the envelope with raunchy, but hilarous content? By keeping elements of the old and bringing in the new.

After all, television is a business. So yeah, the episodes are a little more pointless, and yeah there's a little less substance, but cut The Simpsons some slack. At this point they've been there and done that...twice.

As for the movie, you must have been trying way too hard to hate it because it was truly awesome. Was there a point? Maybe not, but it was still extremely funny. AND HOW DARE YOU HATE ON SPIDERPIG!!!!?

not a chance i have seen a least 20 different shows and i think it is a pretty funny show i don't have pay TV i work 6 days and that is shift work so i don't really care whats on TV i might get to watch 2-3 hours aweek

you dont like it because you are growing up, you are trying to be like everyone else and be "mature" well if you are to mature to laugh at the simpsons, then you are dumb

Only when I find the episodes too dumb then I do. I do admit I like the weird Halloween episodes more then the bloody gory ones. The Weird ones just seem more comedic to me then the old blood and gore ones.

i disagree about the movie, it was a little weak, but it was still pretty funny. I thin the simpsons are moving away from its roots, they need to return to comedy that doesn't involve insulting the president and christians. That seems to be the new thing. Yes, Homer falling down constantly isn't funny. Ever since 2004ish they have been pretty sucky.
