Little britain ...?

lol, i love little britain.... but how on earth do they get away with the things they do and say!!!

i'm surprised there's not so much uproar about it.. they cover a wide range of discrimination acts etc....

my hubby and friends call me Dennis as im quite short! well, yes, small :-)

yes, i know its funny!!! but we cant do anything these days without upsetting someone or without things being politically correct in society! Thats what makes me wonder why they can get away with it!

The characters are grotesques, they are done in such a way as that they are making fun of the characters, not a whole type of people. They also get away with it because the charactersw are plainly silly and not representative of anything.

Dafydd, the only gay in the village, clearly *isn't*. Half of the rest of Llandewi Brefi are well tollerated gays, so that sketch clearly doesn't characterise gays.

The real Dennis Waterman plainly is more than 1 foot tall. So the sketeches plainly don't say much aboutr him.

Emily and Florence are bad TVs. No real TV dresses like that so it plainly isn't making fun of TVs.

So, no discrimination.

I have often thought that with all the PC in this country at the moment. However, Im glad they do because they are absolutely brilliant! I love Catherine Tate too, hilarious, especially the gran!

My husband calls me Bubbles!!! I found it really offensive at first but now i prance around bending over and saying I'm winking darling!

I love LB too = i know i shouldn't let my daughter watch it but she has picked up on so many catchphrases now ... her I'm a layyydee is fantastic as is her I want that one! Pure brilliance from Matt and David

they say things about all groups not just one so they aren't picking on everyone. and of course its very funny

I think they get away with it because they are in the UK. I'm from America and finally moved over here about 6 months ago. it's always been amazing to me how the telly is so much different. Most of the things on UK telly wouldn't allowed to be shown in america. There's talk of Matt and David doing a show in the states, but I can't imagine it working as they'd edit out all the good bits.
