How many episodes are there currently in naruto shippuden(as of december 15)?

i havent been on naruto for a while cos i've been watching bleach(wich i think is much better) but now i have started watching naruto again and my friend is saying there are more than 39 episodes of naruto shippuden(as of december 15) but u can only get them secretly. is this true or is my freind just a big fat liar.
