Bluegrass Fans?

I am 16 and love bluegrass!! I play dobro in a little bluegrass band, and I just wondered if anyone else was interested in bluegrass. If so, what are your favorite bluegrass bands??
A few of mine are: Allison Krauss/Union Station, Rhonda Vincent/The Rage, Cherryholmes, Rob Ickes, and too many more to name!

The classics are great also, just forgot to list them! =)

BILL MONROE ROCKS TO HIGH HEAVEN..YOU HAVE GREAT TASTE IN MUSIC TOO!

Oh yeah, I love Rhonda Vincent's "Is The Grass Any Bluer On The Other Side" love the old stuff too!!!!!

(we miss you Bill)

(by the way, I'm glad that your out there, Preserving such a great genre of music!!! (Most Kids your age listen to *@%*)!!!!

I am glad as well that someone your age is interested in that type of music. For me I really like the Father of Blugrass Mr. Bill Monroe as well as Jim & Jesse the McReynolds brothers. Stick with what you are doing and I hope you go far.

Yep...I've dabbled in a little bluegrass over the years...just with vocals..the only thing I play is the radio!!
Have you checked out the Isaacs? They are a wonderful gospel bluegrass group. Rhonda Vincent is awsome...also Allison Krauss...a good ol bluegrass girl from Champagne, Illinois. Ricky Skaggs deserves credit for helping to keep bluegrass in the forefront...also because of him Bill Monroe got credit that was much deserved in his latter years. He's the BIG DADDY!!

The people you just mentioned are great, especially Allison Krauss. But if you are a true Bluegrass fan, the originals are the best; Bill Monroe, the father of Bluegrass; Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs (the originator of the three finger picking style on banjo), Jim and Jesse, Ralph Stanley to name a few. If you really want to get at the roots of Bluegrass, listen to these guys! Go to www.elderly.com, they have a ton of obscure Bluegrass music. Its refreshing to meet a young person that appreciates Bluegrass. You are indeed a rarity.

I love bluegrass. I'm really glad to hear of another person under the age of 30 that does. (I'm 21). You have great taste! :D

I like the ones you listed (love Cherryholmes!), plus I also love Flatt & Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley, the Grascals (bluegrass/country), and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver (bluegrass / gospel). There's more, but I think you get the picture.

I adore Allison Krauss, my hubby took me to her concert this summer as a b-day gift. It was so fantastic, her voice, the Union Station guys playing, and her personality was exactly like I had hopped. She was fun and relaxed.

i love Bluegrass but there are some new bands out there that have that bluegrass feel w/ a little punk. no one can thumb theme to a genre, coming up w/ new names like powergrass or cowpunk.

i LOVE Split Lip Rayfield (R.I.P. Kirk Rundstrom)

So many great groups.

Some of the up and coming bands I am enjoying are:

GREENSKY BLUEGRASS

The Infamous Stringdusters

Larry Keel & Natural Bridge

Yonder Mountain String Band

and so much more!

Rhonda Vincent and Del McCoury are the best live acts out there right now.

Larry Sparks and Alison Krauss are amazing!

And (RIP) Mr. John Hartford will always be one of the greats.
Of course Bill Monroe and the Osborne Brothers.....

There is a girl in my hometown that I love.... Amber Kaye
