In your opinion, what artists from another genre could make a great Country album?

Social Distortion and Tiger Army in the punk world have both put out great country songs. Mike Ness of Social D even put out some great solo stuff that was more country than anything else.
Who would you like to see do the same?

Although it's sadly too late to find out, I believe Warren Zevon could have made a wonderful country album. His duet with Dwight Yoakam on "Heartache Spoken Here" (on "Mr. Bad Example") proves he had a voice for country.

I would love to hear Elvis Costello make another country album. His first one, "Almost Blue," and his vocal on "When I Stop Dreaming" on Charlie Louvin's new album prove he has a knowledge and love of country music as well as the talent to perform it.

Someone else mentioned John Fogerty, and he's an excellent choice. Fogerty's music has always shown a number of influences, including country, and his "Blue Ridge Rangers" album and tracks on his solo albums ("Southern Streamline," "Big Train From Memphis") indicate he's never lost his love for country.

Finally, I'd like to hear most of these modern "country" singers try to actually make a COUNTRY album.

There are so many rock singers that would do good.

there are alot, but one that comes to mind is John Fogerty. Hes always had a hint of country in his songs anyway. (he even put out a pure country album under the name "the blue ridge rangers" in the early 70's)

I would love to have heard (actress) Meryl Streep do a country album. That girl can/could sing !!!!!

Kid Rock. He is already recognized on country radio with the song "Picture"

I remember him on CMT crossroads with Hank Jr., it was great. I think maybe in a few years when he is older, he will give us a country album.
