The Grass is Blue? |
do you consider bluegrass clasic Country, or is it all about Hank Sr., Patsy,& Conway?? I'm digging Del Mccoury, the Blue Sky Boys, and Bill Monroe to name a few. I don't consider bluegrass classic country because bluegrass as a whole is still very active (i.e. Nickle Creek, Malibu Storm, Chris Thile...etc) Bill Monroe I would considered him classic --- but it's classic bluegrass because he has a different sound fromother classics such as Patsy Cline, Earnest Tubb, Hank Williams...etc. It basically originated from the same place. Central Europe and the British isles. It just picked up a different sound when it was introduced to different parts of the country. everyone had their own style of playing it. In the same way that Hank Sr and his era are classic so is bluegrass. These songs tell a story. The songs were a way to celebrate life and the end of the work day. They brought people together. They are the music of the common man telling stories of heartache, God, and the ever changing role of politics and society in the small provinces. it's not about the singers some1 can go from hard metal to bluegrass, its about the sound and instruments. heres a dictionary entry: Bluegrass and country are different animals. Different goals, different instruments, then and now. |
