ONE more Classic question please-what was the name of the gospel song that caused all the problems for?

The Oakridge Boys-what year was it-they were in some kind of controversy about it???

maybe you're talking about..
"Where the soul never dies"..1976..they won a grammy for this album and i think i know what you're talkin about the trouble?..it was put under the CATAGORY of NON GOSPEL- YET IT WON under GOSPEL??? PEOPLE WERE OUTRAGED and somebody even claimed that they were showing FAVORTISIM..it was a BIG MESS..BUT THEY DID WIN AND GOT TO KEEP THE GRAMMY!..I REMEMBER WATCHING THAT LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY..VERY SCARY!

The song I am thinking of wasn't a gospel song but it did stir up a lot of controversy and it was American Made because the lyrics went something like this:

My baby is American made
Born and bred in the USA

Miller Brewing Company used it in one of their television ads and the words were:

Miller's made the American way
Born and brewed in the USA

It did cause a lot of problems but I don't recall what the final outcome was. The year that happened was in the early 1980's

Okie may be on to something with her answer though because I also remember something about the controversy she speaks of. Heck maybe there were two seperate things that caused a controversy.
