What state did the "singing brakeman" miss?

Who was he & where was home? Anyone know what item was waiting for him?

Who & what? Finish the thought Caveman! So far so good.

he missed the "mississippi" (river)..and"you"(well , not you personally, probably some gal)

Mississippi

THe singing brakeman was Jimmie Rodgers also known as the Blue Yodeler.

One of his songs was "Waiting for a Train". In this song, he tells of being dropped off in Texas "a state I dearly love". However, he is trying to get back to Dixie Land, so I would say Mississippi.

He was born in Mississippi, but then moved to Texas (San Antonio and Kerrville), Arizona (Tucson), and then back to Mississippi (Meridian). I would say he either missed being in Texas once he moved back to Mississippi, or when he was traveling he missed Mississippi.

He was Born In Meridian, Mississippi and All Around The Water Tank He Was "Waiting for A Train" and to top it all off he was a 1000 miles away from home just sleeping in the rain. They dropped him off in Texas a state he dearly loved but he wanted to get back to Dixieland. Man he had a lot of bad luck in that song.
