Can anyone reccomend any music with good steel guitar in it?

There's a song with a great steel in it out right now by Dwight Yoakam, his version of Close Down The Honky Tonks. Whoever is on that steel knows what he's doing.

Tequila Sunrise by The Eagles has a great steel in it, played by Bernie Leadon, I think.

Then there's Lay Lady Lay by Bob Dylan. Pete Wade played steel on that recording, and he later issued a single of the song just on the steel.

And what Tommy said. Buddy Emmons and Lloyd Green have great steel only albums, along with harder to find ones by Sonny Garrish and Weldon Myrick. Sonny and Weldon did a great one in the early '70s called Sonny, Hal and Weldon, Hal being Hal Rugg, another great steel player.

One George Strait song sticks out in my head as having a great steel involvement -- One Night At A Time. The bridge is played on a steel. Paul Franklin, I believe. Great stuff.

The late and great John Hughey plays some real pretty steel on Vince Gill's "Look At Us" Buddy Emmons and Lloyd Green both have also has recorded some albums with nothing but steel guitar music.

The Grateful Dead album "Working Man's Dead" has some steel guitar tracks on it - I recommend a tune called "Dire Wolf"

anything by hank sr or hank III

theres a singer named Justin Trevino that has that wailing steel guitar and fiddles in his music. If you like traditional countrym, you will like him! He is in the Ray Price/Johnny Bush kind of sound. i included a link to hear samples of his songs and they have lots of other similar sounding singers out there. i would also recommend Amber Digby, and Darrel McCall. they are all found at this site.

You can try Rascal Flatts, they are amazing.
