As many have responded.......Nashville is not the "end all" to recording what will most likely be a "demo" as I'm assuming this is your first foray into the studio.

Far too many young folks have made the same multi-thousand dollar mistake of feeling compelled to go to Nashville, record an album, have a 1000 (or more) produced in a "slick package," and end up with 900 beverage coasters. This, after selling one to every friend, fan, and relative -and- giving away dozens more to disk jockeys and so-called promoters.

Find some reasonably good local musicians, book some local studio time, and be prepared prior to entering the studio. The clock stars ticking often within 15-30 minutes after you've arrived. Keep your "out of pocket" expenses to a minimum....ensure that your songs are copyrighted......then, and only then, send out copies to to legitimate record companies that MIGHT take a moment to listen to your material.

If they see ANY POTENTIAL or marketability...the inexpensive demo recording will have done it's job. They (an interested record company) having any interest in you and/or your material will then gladly "foot the bill" for a top-tier session.

Also, make sure you have a publicity package as well......photos, a well written bio, and so on.

Then...given ALL THAT, and assuming you have an extraordinary offering.....you MAY "catch a break."

I can't begin to tell you how difficult it is to break in to the music business, regardless of your ability. I don't mean to discourage at all, but develop a thick skin and be prepared for far more rejection or non-responses than acceptance.

Just for the record........."Okie" is right. Nashville has become a cookie-cutter "star of the week" kind of town. It's lost all it's down to earth/personalized innocence that it once had.

The Very Best of Luck...and remember" patience is a virtue.

hmmm....i think you should try to record your album (if you can) where you are right now, or in an area nearby. if your parents see that this is your dream, then maybe they will consider it in the future. for right now, though, don't give up and keep at it! good luck and hope i helped!! <33

No one said you have to go to Nashville to make an album, Find your self a recording studio in your area. One that will provide studio musicians and go from their. It will be costly, but if your sure of your self then it will be worth it.

Go find a recording studio where you live. They'll rent you studio time and even do the hard work of setting lound levels, effects, and mastering the disk. Then send that in to a local record label and hope for the best. You don't have to go to Nashville to make it big, kid. That's just where you'll end up afterward. Besides, do you think that you're the ONLY person in the world that's thought of going to Nashville to record an album, because you're gonna "make it big"!??!!? That town's FULL of people just like you that thought the same thing, uprooted, and still haven't made it. Stay where you are, you may have a better shot at getting noticed.

decapitation is my first choice.

Listen to your parents sweetheart!!! NASHVILLE AIN'T THE SAME NASHVILLE THAT THEY KNEW..TRUST THEM ON THIS ONE!...AND good luck what ever you decied!

Get a job, save up money, when your old enough do it yourself. Your parents are there to raise, care and love you, not spend ther hard earned money, drop there life and chase after your dream. That is why it is YOUR dream.
