If someone says I beg your pardon, does your mind automatically follow with... I never promised you...? |
The first four answerers have NOT A CLUE what I'm talking about, do they??? LOLOLOLOL it sure does...when I hear someone say "I beg your pardon"...that song (Rose Garden) is stuck in my head for days! lol nope - I think oops, what just happened? Am I in your way? a rose garden along with the sunshine theres gotta be a little rain sometime. Lynn Anderson. ...a rose garden... a rose garden. a rose garden, along with the sunshine theres gotta be a little rain sometimes in the word of ALF "Ha!" good one !!! shades of Lynne Anderson, later Martina McBride As a matter of fact, it does. Ain't that wierd ? i beg ur pardon i never promised u a rose garden, along with the sunshine theres going 2 be a little rain sometime that what it remind me off i never promised you a rose garden. luckily it doesn't get stuck in my head. Not so much... No, I think it comes from "I beg you to pardon me for bothering you." Otherwise known as "Sorry to bother you, but...", just a bit more dated. Oh, no. I know what they mean. People who think that take common colloquialisms waaay too seriously. No, and beg's and pardon's don't really have a real link to promises, so think about the words and you'll get the real meaning, I've never thought of promises when someone says it, I just think.. you aren't really begging, and you don't beg even though you say you do |
