Who else appreciates all country music? |
I`ve noticed a lot of people that like to bash new country artist and their music. I personally enjoy all country music, new and old. I grew up listening to George Jones. Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty etc... and even the older stars Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb etc... I still love to listen to them daily but I also enjoy our new stars Alan Jackson, Brad Paisey, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler etc... Am I the only one that can do this? What are your thoughts on this subject? I do, the classics are great, (my favorite is Johnny Cash), but there's plenty of good singers in new country. I get tired of traditionalists in here bashing new country, why can't they accept that country is changing? It's changing the same way rock has changed in the last 30-40 years, new music for a new generation. no i agree with you 100%. you should like the new and old. I personally like both, new can be good! And most of the time new is good! Take Josh Turner for instance-he's a newer artist, but he's traditional. I like both the new and old versions of country music. The only thing wrong is that they consider themselves country. They have no country roots in them. Half these new artists never heard of a fiddle or steel guitar. They use computers to digitally enhance their work. Country is too main stream now a days and they have forgotten where their roots began. Now I don't claim to hate all new artists just the ones that came in with no knowledge of country music. I'll bet if you were to ask Kellie Pickler or Taylor Swift who their influences were.... They would say my mama! or my grandma. They probably never sat down and heard a recording of Tammy Wynette or Lynn Anderson. But hey thats just my point of view. I like COUNTRY music. I don't want Johnny-come-latelys calling their pop/rock/southern rock "country music," anymore than I would want Barry Manilow trying to pass himself off as a punk rock musician, the Ramones being labeled a bluegrass act, or the Rolling Stones being billed as a jazz band. I grew up on classic country and love it. I do like some of the newer country but, classic has always had my heart and always will. Every person has a preference and should be able to express their feelings. I do agree with Tex when he says new country is to main stream. I also like the old and the new and it does not matter if it's from within Australia or overseas. country is still around, these artists now are just younger and theyre contributing a lot to music in general. i love most country music out now but i also like the older music. i love all country, new and old. but classic country will always be classic NO OFFENSE SAWMILL BUT..... I like the progressive rock, the one more like rock and roll, The king george strait and lot of other artist. I like MUSIC. I do listen to country mostly but I listen to all of my older albums from the 70's which is mostly considered rock I guess. I may not like what someone else listens to but I certainly would never bash or ridicule them for it... I have a huge collection of Brooks and Dunn, Toby Keith, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakam, Travis Tritt, Alabama, Randy Travis,Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Mac Davis, a few of Leanne Rimes, Tanya Tucker, Lots of compilations from older classics and there are some newer artists that I like also. I like Blake Shelton, Joe Nichols, Craig Morgan and Blaine Larsen and Brad Paisley. To answer your question, no, you are not the only one that can do that...lol I love it all. Have it on a player site set up to play everything from the 1940s till today all streamed to a website of mine. I can tell you now, we are a dying breed. You're right, most people either like the real new stuff, and hate old, or like old and hate new. I like both, just so long as they are good artists and have relevent songs to my liking. For instance, I grew up with Patsy, Dolly, Merle and Johny Cash, but I also like Carrie, Reba, Shania, Brad Paisley, Sunny Cowgirls etc. I don't consider the new stuff country. I grew up on Hank, Waylon...these new artists could care less about country music and its roots. they don't care if they sound good or are country or are paying respect to the legends. All they care about is the money signs in front of their faces. I was at a Blake Shelton concert and he himself said " i don't like the new stuff, and I'm part of the new stuff" There are a select few new artists I like, but the majority I can't stand!! Also, I don't consider Alan Jackson new-hes been around for awhile fyi. And I don't completely hate Brad Paisley. But the rest of the new ones on your list make me gag. OH MAN!! Who could NOT like country? I ask myself that question over and over again when I'm lost in such a great country tune whether it be old or new. When I listen to classic country (which BTW is my preference) I think of that new country song that's out called "...you can't beat an original!" I forget already who sings that song but it's true, while the newer stuff is GREAT, there's just no doubt about it that you cant beat the original classic country tunes and their artists. Oh and BTW, I was country when country wasn't cool!! |
