Curiosity question about yahoo country music participants?

I am just curious how many people actively particpate or come into the Yahoo Country section. Doesn't matter what genre you listen to or whether or not you frequently ask and answer. It just seems like this section has grown the last six months and I am curious how many people use it reguarly and has it benefitted you to do so. It has me.

There is no best answer here because I feel everyone's is as just and correct as the others and don't feel right in choosing one. For that reason alone I am going to let this go to vote which I would not ordinarily do. Thank you everyone that took the time to respond.

I was more active on here until a few weeks ago. All of the sudden the mood got real ugly. People making accusations that they couldn't back up. Other writing horrible things about fellow classic country fans, sending profane e-mails to other members. Insulting the people that like current country at every chance. I decided, screw it, I have no interest in being part of that, I come here to enjoy myself. I have 12,000 records/cds and love all types of traditional American music so I kept participating in the blues, jazz, and rock & roll forums. Things seem to have calmed down now, so I've been answering and posting here again recently.

I come in here every time I have the chance to get on Y!A. Which isn't much, considering I'm at work. I like learning about different artists, more classic than new. I don't always answer a question, but I love to read other people's answers. I've learned a lot about the greats by just visiting.

You know, there is something that happens with certain categories on Y!A and country is one of those categories.

Whenever I post to that category, most of my answers end up making fun of me or just being downright nasty.

I attribute this, in part, to the home page that mixes the latest questions from all categories - some topics are just favorites of the bullies and jerks. I wish that when you were posting a question, you had the choice to "not display on Y!A home page"

So I do read the country music section now and then, but that's about it. I would like it a lot more if it was a little more protected against the very large contingent of anti-country people out there.

I,m here every now and then:)

me, i love country.
i listen to other genres but country is my fav.
i hateeeeeeeeee rap.
=]

Here , I havent been over there in a while and i wasnt arware that it was expanding.

I'm new

I am here quite a bit and absolutely love it. The benefits are so numerous I can 't list them all.

I come in here only occasionally because most of the questions seem to be about Nashvegas pop-country I don't really listen to. But when there are questions about 1980 and earlier country I usually stop.

Ha!!! Don't listen to Tex, on here every now & then my butt!! More like Everyday!!!
Hey ya'll the cable accepted a promise to pay & I start a new job this week!!!!

Yahooooo!!!!!!=)

and for you, I'm usually here everyday, the time dependin' on the kids and now my new job. still gonna be here though, just not as much..

When ever Iam on the net for any reason, I mosy into country territory to read the questions and some of the answers, which is everyday or once a month. So much on here now doesn't belong in country category, it gets rather disappointing. Its a free country so I go with the flow and hope for the best and some times I get it(the best). I hope the classic country gang stays here. Its not that I do not like other music, I do, I have played in an orchestra and a band both classic and middle eastern, big band sound , but country is from my roots and always will be, it is what I grew up on and inspired me to take music seriously. I love it.

I'm 38 and I've been listening to country music since I was 3. I've been a serious record collector since I was 14, and my first 45 was a Marty Robbins record. (Some Memories Just Won't Die.) The other two I bought to start my 45 collection were Slow Down by Lacy J. Dalton and That's The Thing About Love by Don Williams. I used to raid my parents' records and listen to them all the time, and I listened to KOMA out of Oklahoma City at night. Its 50,000 watts would reach Southern New Mexico at night pretty easily during those days. When it faded out, I'd catch KVOO out of Tulsa, another country super-station. It's funny; I caught KOMA while driving down the freeway at night a while back, and it's no longer a country format, I don't think, but "staff meteorologist Allan Archer" is still there today, right where he was in 1982.

When I really started collecting records, I ended up with a lot of R&B from the '60s and '70s, and a lot of adult contemporary like Ed Ames, Andy Williams and Ferrante And Teicher.

I worked in country radio when I was a teenager, and I had pretty much a classic country show then because everyone was requesting the likes of Tony Booth, Johnny Bush and Buck Owens, and since they were all friends from school, they all knew I knew the music well enough to help them determine what these songs were and who they were by, if the kids didn't know. Then, I went to college, and when I got my degree in journalism, nobody would hire me back in radio because three years wasn't enough "experience."

Now, in this age of MP3s and gansta rap, nobody around me can talk music with me. The people I'm around these days don't know who Johnny Bush is, nor do they know who The Stylistics or Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose are, nor do they care what two songs were hits on which Buck Owens album.

So I've found a circle of people here who enjoy discussing the music as much as I do, and some of the brain teasers we come up with for each other have led to some great record finds for the collection. It's also providing an outlet for satisfying curiosity on such things as Dwight Yoakam's recent remake of Buck's song, Close Down The Honky Tonks. From asking that question, I learned that it was Gram Parsons who was originally behind the song, and the more I listen to it, the more I hear Gram in it. Cool, fun stuff. That's just one example of why I come here.

I come here on a semi-regular basis. I like to try and answer people's questions here. I love country music both modern and classic. Has it benefited me yes because I have asked questions here and had many helpful answers given. Some of the questions here make me think back and some are like I just herd that on the radio. I think the people here really do love the music and like helping other country fans.

i started using it a month ago because i accidently ran across it in a google search. i was asking a country music question and was surprised to find such an interesting forum going on here that i countinued to use it. now i like to go on and discover what other people are listening to, give ideas for good songs, and learn of others out there. i really want to do something in my career with country music, and this site has helped me discover that. thanks so much everybody!!

I actively participate,I Have gained a lot of knowledge, and met a lot of nice people, and also came back to the fact that people will always pretty much be the same,in that you have a diverse group, some willing to help, some not so much, some to show, they believe they have more knowledge than all, some to showboat, but for the most part most are just great people having fun and learning, sharing what they know.
