Rank which Hank you like best and name your favorite 3 songs by them.
mine-
Hank Sr is my favorite
1.lost highway
2. kawliga
3. i'll never get out of this world alive
Hank III is my 2nd favorite
1. country heros
2. dick in dixie
3. mississippi mud
Hank Jr
1. whiskey bent and hell bound
2. the old nashville cowboy
3. outlaw women **I'm not the one giving the thumbs down, but I am surprised that Hank 3 isn't more well liked. I absolutely love him. I love his ef nashville attitude, his 1st 2 cds are more traditional style country, and the 3rd is more outlaw, and he has a new one coming out soon. And I think he has talent out the wazoo. WOW this is tough because i love all 3 Hanks. My grandpa listened to Hank Sr & when i hear him it reminds me of my grandpa. i don't have a FAVORITE SR song nor do i have a least favorite
i grew up listening to Hank Jr, i have seen him at least 10 times. i don't get where people on here dislike him other than they are too young remember his good stuff, what he did for country music or remember that he too was a country music outlaw. i will admit i haven't bought anything since the one after Lone Wolf because most of sounds like the sh*t they are trying to pawn off as country music on 98.1. he hasn't always been the guy on MNF. my favorite Jr song is O.D.'d in Denver & then Family Tradition with out all the clowns yelling "to get drunk" & the other crap people add to the song. Whiskey Bent & hell bound is another fav.
i'm really into Hank III, so he's my favorite right now. i've seen him 5 times & will go see him every time he's in the state of Indiana. this is country music people, i don't care what the radio tells you or forces you to listen. i like everything he has done (country) & hard to pick a fav. it's nice to see someone else likes Cecil Brown, i love that & Dick in Dixie & his cover of Wayne "the train" Hancock's 87 South Bound. i can listen to his other stuff (*** Jack) but in small doses.
good question Lisa! 1st. Hank Sr.- Hey Good Looking - Your Cheating heart - I,m so lonesome I could cry.
2nd. Hank Jr. - Whiskey bent and hell bound - Country boy can survive - Man of steel
I,m not even gonna rank Hank III I,m not into his style of playing. This isn't exactly my favorite, but there's an old Hank Sr. song called, " I Dreamed About Mama Last Night ", that some of the words to keeps popping into my head. It bothers me because my elderly mother is beginning to have recurring health problems and I fear it may be a premonition of sorts... I am a Hank Jr fan all the way. I recorded the CMT Giants special the other day and am constantly blown away by his song writing abilities.
So my order would be
1. Hank Jr
2. Hank Sr
3. Hank III #1 hank sr."you win again"..."there'll be no teardrops tonight"..."lovesick blues" #2 jr. "there's a tear in my beer "w/sr....."old habits"..."dixie on my mind"..III (no opinion) -1. Hank Jr
Blues Man
-Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound
-Family Tradition
2. Hank Sr
I think I like all of Hank Sr...hard to name a fav
3. Hank III
-Absolutely nothing!! 1) Hank Sr. ( He tops my list of any Country Artist ever )---I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry----Move It On Over-----Settin' The Woods On Fire ......2) Hank Jr. - Family Tradition ......3) Hank III - ( May have the Williams name, but not the talent )---Hank III is a wannabe OUTLAW just like most Rappers are wannabe GANGSTAS ----Anybody that thinks Hank III is real Country must be smoking those funny cigarettes Merle sung about ?? Hank Sr. was the Original & the Real Thing. Without Hank, Sr......there most likely would have been any Elvis ( as much as I love ya Elvis ) or Rock 'n Roll. Without the Williams name....Hank III couldn't get a gig at a Supermarket Opening. I would like to see how many people even remember Hank III 50 years after his death much less hold him in the high esteem that Hank Sr. is ?? No genre of Music ( Country, Pop, Rock, Jazz, R & B, etc. ) will EVER see the likes of Hank Sr, again........ Hank Jr is number one for me
favortie without a doubt is the duet with Waylon Jennings. "The COnversation",
Second, would be A Country Boy Can Survive
and thirdly would be the Blues Man
Hank Sr. Honky Tonk Blues, I'm So Lonesome I could Cry and kawliga
Not familiar with Hank III enough to answer that Hank III is the man! ... keeping REAL outlaw country alive!
Those who say he has no talent... you are delusional and obviously have NO CLUE as to what country music was originally all about.
Hank Jr is a joke... a sellout... a pretend, fake... an embarrassment to the family name. Alright Lisa you knew I would have to answer this one!!!
1. Hank Sr. The man was a legend. No one will ever be able to accomplish what he did in the time he did it. So he has to be number 1. It is hard to pick three songs but I have to pick....
A. A song he wrote about me..Kawliga
B. Long Gone Lonesome Blues
C. I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive ( its very eerie when you know it was the last song he wrote and recorded).
2. The man Hank Williams III...like above said, if you think he does not have talent you are fooling yourself. Like a song about Sr says "you're the only one you are screwing, when you put down what you don't understand" All classic fans she be proud of him. He is going out there doing it his way, like all the greats did. Again hard to pick three but....
A. Cecil Brown, like Sr. III knows me
B. Not Everybody Likes Us
C. country heroes
3. Hank williams Jr. He has done alot for the industry, but I just can't get the feeling from him he knows an average mans pain. Unlike Sr. and III I can't feel the relation. But he is a great no matter what. my three are....
A. I got Rights
B. Dinosaur
C. The Conversation
Great question Lisa! One day you'll get to meet III too! Here ya go:
Hank Sr.
I Just Don't Like This Kind Of Living
Teardrop On A Rose
I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry
Hank Jr.
Family Tradition
Women I've Never Had
Eleven Roses
Hank III
Don't listen to him so I can't answer this part. I heard him one time and his language wasn't to my liking. Ok First here's my answers:
Hank Sr.-
"I Can't Help it if I'm Still in Love with You"
"Your Cheatin' Heart"
"I Saw the Light"
Hank Jr.
"I'm One of You"
"Come on Over to the Country"
"If Heaven ain't alot like Dixie"
Hank III
"I don't Know"
that's about all i like by him!
and about three answers up some joker is calling Hank Jr. a fake? A sellout? Are You F****** kidding me? I'm not a die-hard Jr. fan by no means. But the man did pave the way for alot of artist from today and yesterday. I'm really glad he didn't sing like his daddy. Country music would not be what it is now if it wasn't for artists like him. So just back off DUDE!! |
