Name this person...? |
He was born in Woodland, Alabama & is known as 'The Voice'. He idolised The Louvin Brothers & The Blue Sky Boys as a young man & sang in a gospel quartet called The Gosdin Brothers. In his late teens, his family moved to Birmingham & began hosting the Gosdin Family Gospel Show on a local radio station WVOK. Vern & his brother Rex moved to Long Beach, California in 1961 & began performing bluegrass music, joining a group called The Golden State Boys that evolved into The Hillmen, featuring future Byrds' member Chris Hillman. Vern Gosdin Vern Gosdin Vern Gosdin its vern gosdin isnt it? i love him. even if it isnt hes still spinning hits on the jukeboxes. THE MAN-THE VOICE...VERN GOSDIN! yep it was Vern alright. He and his brother Rex sang some great harmony on some sure nuff good gospel singing too. Great question Tex about one of the best singers I can recall. One of my favorite gospel songs they did was "Jesus Hold My Hand" you talk about a pretty song this is one. |
