Classic Country Music Fans--Have you seen this?

This morning I decided to look around to see where all these folks get the lyrics they post on here so I typed in the word lyrics and a slew of sites came up. I then looked at several of the sites and looked for various lyrics only to find the incorrect lyrics on some of the songs. I don't know where they get them from but I am only thinking that they are submitted by the public. The lyrics were incorrect by as much as a few words to a complete line. Does anyone know where these sites get the lyrics they post?

Yeah, like Tex said it's like a Wiki, it comes from the public, with no body supervising what's right or wrong.

So if you goggle, you'd better be able to trust who you get your stuff from!!!

Mostly from the public- a lot of times the person making the website notates the words they hear as they listen.

Not sure but I have seen some that let you enter the correct lines if you spot an error, so maybe it's like wiki.

Ive seen some that say email if thelyrics are incorrect. Sometimes they are lyrics from different singers and the words are changed sometimes.

It is a "resource" and for the most part; all lyric sites rely on the general public to submit lyrics and corrections. If you "know" the song, you pick up on the errors. People rely on a lot of different resources and some sites are more trustworthy than others. Like all resources; "you" have to decide whether to rely on it or not or the use of it as an aide to what knowledge you already possess.

it is my assumption that people from the general public submit them to the site. I use these sites to find lyrics to songs for my band a lot. I find it is easier to cut and paste from one of these sites than the traditional listen to a piece of a song until you have the words write those words down then start the disc over and listen some more and keep repeating this until you have the words to your song you need to learn. Once I cut and paste the words I then start the disc and make notes as to where any solos go how the song starts and ends so on and so forth. I also pay close attention to the accuracy of the words. I will change them if they are wrong. It's worked for me for years and in a ton of different bands.

That's the problem I was comin' across when I was asking questions about country stars and what states they are from. Like real okie told me, double check the information you're gettin'.
and Like the others have said the lyrics come from the public and the public mostly posts what they think they hear in the songs they listen to.
So we All need to double check the info. we're gettin' when we "google".

I sometimes use Cowpie Song Corral which gives the name of the person posting the lyrics. It also gives a way to correct the words if needed.
