What is going on...?

Why are people with correct answers getting thumbs down? Are people just mad cause someone else beat them?

I hardly ever give a thumbs down...unless someone is being rude with the answers...If someone beats me to an answer, I just give them a thumbs up and keep on going to the next one.

Great question Amber and I've been wondering about that for months then decided to heck with it. I only give the thumbs down when someone is rude by saying country sucks etc. If they think that then why in the world are they even here to begin with. I do think some of it may be jealousy on the part of some folks but what the heck it don't hurt my feelings anymore, but I'll admit it used to when I thought I had given a good answer then got the thumbs down. Oh well life goes on.

3rd Edit: I need a thumbs down too since you are passing them out to the others. I realize what it is that someone is trying to do and that is not nice. I want a thumbs down like you gave the others. I believe that I have figured out who the party is that is doing this. I wonder why that party will not answer this question.

I agree that this is bizarre behavior. I blame it on people who don't know how Yahoo Answers works and can't possibly fathom that someone may have been a half second faster than them. These same people have probably been coddled by their parents most of their lives so it's hard for them to understand how they could possibly not get best answer. It's sad.

I noticed that too. I'm the same if there is already a correct answer I don't bother putting my answer down, just give a thumbs up to the correct answer.Someone is always giving OKIEFAN and FOOLFOR the thumbs down, just jealous I guess.I rather enjoy those two.

On edit: no problem FOOLFOR keep up the questions and you can ask as many as you want, fine by me. lol

some people just have nothing better to do than give thumbs down... or they think they know everything and you (or whoever) are wrong... it's happened to me many times, and often times it's pretty obvious who is doing it... for example, if 10 people on the page have thumbs downs and then the 11th (and last person) doesn't... it's pretty obvious... or if everyone on the page has thumbs down and just one person doesn't, that's usually the culprit!!! it really annoys me when people do the thumbs down because i feel like that is rude... unless the person who received the thumbs down gave a rude or completely irrelevant answer...

I never thought about it as a contest but as a helping hand if I can or even for points.I don't care about any of these things at all.The reason for me to visit is to get an idea how the people are thinking or saying about today's world ,and If I ever got the chance to help some one...I'll be very happy to do so..........THE END !

It's also annoying if you add a bit of info on the subject or offer a different but also correct answer & you get the ONLY thumbs down. Often there is more than one singer for instance or you can add some details, but someone doesn't like it & ya get the downer!
I agree on the rudeness part, that's when I give the 'nay' vote also.

Great question. I hate it when people do that. If I answer behind someone I give them a thumbs up because they are right. I don't get why people do this, all they want is all of the points.

You know...the more people keep bringing up the thumbs down issue, the more it will make this individual keep doing what he is doing. Good question, Amber... I've only been on here for a few years but receiving a T.D. doesn't bother me any more. It's just part of the game.
I give TDs when I see an answer which is obviously wrong. The TD is to indicate to the answerer AND the asker that the information is incorrect or rude.
