What kind of guitar should i buy ?

Hi, i want to play old old country music. I am learning guitar and i want to buy a good one appropriate. I have heard that washburn makes a good one. apparently famous country singers use them. If so what kind of Washburn. What make and model do you think is really good for old country ? And do i get a six string ? Tell me the specs please and thank u very much appreciated

Look at what Willy Nelson plays with. It's old and beat down. Has a hole on the surface where his pick has worn through on his down-stroke. Until you become a serious guitar player, don't waste your money. Go to a music store and buy a used acoustic 6 string. Maybe a fender or yamaha for 150 bucks. Don't trade up until it doesn't play right anymore. Most people never get to that point, unless they leave it out in the rain or something.

Washburns are a "middle-of-the-road" axe.... Also a good one to learn on... Nice action... Fair sound.... Inexpensive.

Just because "famous" performers play them does not mean they are more than an average guitar... Remember, the guitar makers PAY them to use their instruments... If you look in their homes, you'll find something much better.

Get the 6 string Washburn and learn on it... then shift to something like a Gibson, Guild, or Martin... You'll never regret it.

Good Luck in your endeavors... and welcome to the club !!!

waterbrother, I couldn't have said it better !!!

I don't know a lot about guitars, but I've listened to and have sang country music all my life. Music is a very personal thing. If you sing, or just love country music, you should try out many different acoustic guitars till you find one that fits your style. By that I mean, one that fits best with the sound you love, the sound you want to project that fits your personal style of singing, or the music you most enjoy playing. When you put your passion into something, you'll know when you find the rest of the 'pieces' that fit. Ibanez acoutic guitars put out a beautiful sound for country. Even friends that are excellent rock & roll have played my guitar and fell in love with the sound quality. Again, it's very personal. Find what fits YOU.

epiphones area nice sounding guitar and you can get a solid top(which is better) for a good price

If your just learning, start with a simple acoustic. As you advance you can reward your self with a better guitar and by then you'll have a better understanding of what you need and/or want. My father played and sang all the old old country on his Gibson.

epiphone model j their around 400 bucks sounds like gipson minus the extra $1000
and yeah its a 6 string and elixer strings are the best
