Do you remember Country Bumpkin?

I heard Cal Smith sing Country Bumpkin this morning and got all teary-eyed once again. (I married a country boy and love him to pieces.)

Did you know: After his first wife gave him the ultimatum to choose her or music he chose music! Now why on earth did Cal record that song? Guilt?

I love the song. Didn't know nothin' about it, just who sang it.
I still cry too when I here it. But hell--- I cry with every mushy, sad song that get's played.

Who cares why he recorded it? It's indisputably one of the best songs in the history of music, of any genre, anywhere in the world.

I listened to it yesterday. I have always loved that song. reminds me of the old barfly's I used to know back in the days just sitting around the bar drinking beer after a day of working out in the hot sun staring into that mirror and seeing them looking back at themselves wondering why on earth did God make the Cowboy suffer so much. I remember the old Cowboys telling the younger ones the up's and Downs of relationships, and younger ones just laughing it up. Wonder whether or not their laughing now? Thanks for bringing back those memories again...Those were the good ol' days. When country music had a meaning.
