CLASSIC COUNTRY FANS..another GARTH BROOKS QUESTION?

I read somewhere moons ago that Garth and Mark chesnutt -BOTH RECORDED Friends in low places, It said that Mark recorded it first..does anybody know if his version ever made it to the CHARTS, or did Garth really Record it first? I never really knew.

SO DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF MARKS EVER MADE IT ONTO THE CHARTS? I NEVER REMEMBER HEARING IT!

With some research I came up witht he fact that both Mark and Garth recorded this song on albums released in 1990. I read several different articles, some noted Mark did it first, some say that Mark had the song in hand first and recorded it . Whatever the debate, mark's version did not reach the charts and Garth's did. It was on Marks debut album and on Garth's second album. Further research shows that Marks album that Tex notes above me was released in October of 1990 and that Garths was released in August of 1990 so you can see where there would be so much discrepency. How can you actually tell who recorded it first when all you can actually find a fact on is the release date of the album...lol

Garth Brooks Recorded it first...

Nooo...Mark actually recorded it first.
If you don't believe me, check this out:

Garth Brooks definitely recorded first, I looked all over and I can't find any mention of mark's name to that song

mark had it first. beleive me, im a HUGE mark fan!

they both did it together both times.

Well Mark recorded it in 1990

...and Garth did too

so I don't really know who got it first. Garth's album was released first. I just can't imagine anyone else's version being as good as Garth's.

Edit: I don't think Mark's version charted. If it did, I definately don't remember it.

I,m actually a Mark Chesnutt fan and I do not recall him doing this song. But I will check into it.

Edit: I had forgotten Mark did release this song on his first cd "Too cold at Home" in 1990, but it was never released as a single. Then a few years later in 1999 Garth released it on his "No fences"cd.
