How does the style of music differs between Jimmie Rodgers and The Carter Family?

I've herd a good collection of The Carter Family but never really herd Jimmie's recordings. I'm currious, Was he simmilar to The Carters? Was he edjeier?

The late Jimmie Rodgers sang the blues and did a lot of yodeling in most of his songs and there were a lot of his songs that mentioned railroading which he worked at for awhile until his health wouldn't hold up to the strenious work. The Carter Family did a lot of the mountain or Appalachian type songs that worked well with them as they sang harmony together on many of them. I like them both but Jimmie is my favorite because he could reach out there and grab you with the yodeling.

The Carter Family was a group and did terrific harmonizing, Jimmie Rodgers was a solo artist, so pretty hard to compare the 2. I'd rather listen to The Carter Family myself. IMHO, you could almost consider Jimmy Rogers to be the father of what we would consider country music today, although there were others before him, he really brought the elements and sound together. Again, this is just my opinion, but I'd also consider Chuck Berry to be the father of Rock music, although there were others before him (like the recently departed Ike Turner, or Bill Halley) the "did" rock music, Chuck Berry brought it really into focus, just like Jimmy did for country.

rogers was the original blues man,picking and singing with no back up.The Carter Family were more into mountain music and Gospel.

FOOL4 has a great answer. I have a complete works by Jimmie Rodgers. He took the blues and moved into Country Music with songs like "All Around the Water Tank".... "Peach Picking Time in Georgia", and "T for Texas".
