ok. so i really really want to learn, Letter to me on gutiar by Brad Paisley. problem is I am a begginer guitarist, and I am having problems strumming. I know it starts off with a G and a Bm and I know how to finger those but how do I strum? I tried watching a video on youtube and it looked like that guy was picking at some of the strings but not all so if anyone wants to help me and get in detail maybe send me a video of them doing it close it. its a really beautiful song. please help! :) thanks. What I do to learn a new strum pattern is sing it to myself. Once I learn to do that, I just start making my right hand go up and down in that pattern I was singing.
It sounds like you are looking for the arpeggio pattern though, the pattern in which you pick the strings strings individually while you hold a chord shape with your left hand. On that song I can't help you there. You don't have to get it perfect though, a listener won't know, as long as you get it sort of close. Try and mess around with different patterns.
Brad Paisley probably doesn't just arpeggiate. If I know him he is constantly moving his left hand as well. |
