I'm at season 2 and haven't a clue as to what's going on... It started as a mystery. This boy, with no name suddenly wakes up in the middle of a wooded area. You hear the story from his side and his perspective.
He wanders without anything including clothes, to the city where he is picked up and brought to a youth center. There he meets the therapist, Nicole, that he eventually lives with. All this time, he learns the basics: how to eat, how to talk, etc. We hear his thoughts as he works out what he experiences.
Nicole finally takes him to her house and names him Kyle. She decided that he needs special attention because he's obviously very bright, he just needs to learn, as he learns incredibly quickly. The family at first objects to him, but by the end of the first season, they've come to feel him as part of the family.
While living at their house, he displays amazing abilities: stronger, faster, able to jump higher, remembering things exactly, drawing things perfectly using just dots, etc. Kyle also displays unusal quirks: He can't sleep in a bed, finding a bathtub more comfortable; he has no bellybutton; he seems to have the wrong reactions to situtations. (Basically, that's because he is still learning...)
All the time he's there, he's learning the dynamics of human interactions and relationships. Then he meets the girl next door and is instantly attracted to her. However, she has a boyfriend is not that great of a guy. Also, Nicole's daughter, Lori, at the time was dating a guy named Declan. Kyle and Deven became really close friends.
While at their house, he is stalked by a man, Tom Foss, (who ends up being his mentor in season 2). Tom is found out towards the end of the season and confronted by Kyle.
Tom confesses that he is watching Kyle to protect him. It is revealed that Kyle is a clone of a man, Adam, who worked for the Zyzzx Corporation. Kyle is the last, most promising and the only "XY" clone that survived. Tom convinces Kyle to go meet his creator, but not to tell his present family where he's going or who he really is.
So they set up a lie in which they say that Kyle's real parents found him and comes to pick him up to "take him back to his 'real' family". Declan knows that Kyle was lying and confronts him, but Kyle doesn't tell him the truth. This make Declan so upset, he alienates Lori and they break up.
The season ends with Kyle leaving Nicole's family (who Kyle has come to love and trust as his own), Declan feels betrayed, Nicole's family is very sad at him leaving and, in the same woods that Kyle woke up in, a girl also wakes up and walks towards the same city the same way Kyle did at the beginning of the season......
