Why do all the doctors on ER live in really, really dark apartments?

They are DOCTORS for cryin' out loud. They should have mansions in Oak Park or something.

Maybe it's to signify that they have really rubbish hours if your a doctor and there is no point paying for electricity because they only go home to sleep?

lol. I know, right? You're so observant.

Maybe they should stop treating all those poor people, then. Maybe they are paying off humongous student loans. Maybe they want to be down-to-earth to better relate to their patients.
Maybe they get tired of that bright horrible hospital lighting. Maybe they are vampires.

As a resident in a general hospital, let me tell you not ALL doctors live in mansions, we are over worked and underpaid, I have had to wash dishes to make my rent..remember the doctors of ER work for a general hospital, not some cushy 5 star private one.
